There is always something to learn from the people in your life. I am grateful for the time I have with family and friends and the support they give me every day.
For 20 years, I worked alongside my father in the automotive industry. It was hard work, but the relationship I developed with my father made it all worth it. We grew a bond that felt stronger than father and son – I understood him in a way I never did when I was growing up. No one could outwork him; he never gave up or threw in the towel. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend that much time with him. There is a lot to be learned from your parents.
Like my father taught me the value of hard work, my mother taught me the value of care and compassion. On top of having five children, she was also a foster parent. We had a seven-bedroom Victorian home; there were always kids running around the house. It was a great place to grow up. Her capacity to love and care for all of us kept us close as a family. From an early age, I valued family and the relationships in my life because of the example she set.
My parents have shaped me into the man I am today. They have built the foundation for me to be successful and have this amazing life. While my mother and father have passed, I try to keep their memories alive. In everything I do, I try to uphold the values they have taught me. It was very hard to lose them, but it has made me even more appreciative of the people in my life. Every day I am grateful for my wonderful family; I have been happily married for over 23 years to my wife, Lynda, and have two great kids, Carly and Colin.
Family will always be my number one priority. For years I have coached my kids’ teams; whether it was soccer, wrestling, softball, or baseball – I wanted to be involved. There are so many life lessons you learn from playing sports, and it was the most rewarding experience to see my kids grow and push past challenges. Last year, my daughter and I coached a private soccer team together. After coaching her for years, it was very special to see her now taking on the same role as me. As my kids start their own lives, I am very excited to see what they will achieve. Colin recently graduated from an EMT course, and Carly is applying for her Master’s in Nursing. I know whatever they choose to do, they will be successful.
Helping families is my greatest motivation in real estate. When I first decided to get my REALTORS® license, I planned on flipping houses. It didn’t take long before I realized that wasn’t going to be fulfilling for me. I wanted to help people. It means the world to me that families trust me with their biggest asset. By using the values I learned from my parents, I can offer people the understanding and dedication they are hoping to get from their REALTOR®. When someone comes to me with a dream, I do whatever I can to make it happen.
One year, my mother gifted me a mug. I teased her because I thought it was ugly. Now, every morning, I drink my coffee out of it and think of her. I have learned on this journey that the relationships you have with people in your life are what matter most. My friends and family will be there to support me through anything, and that makes me the luckiest man in the world.
It is the best feeling in the world to know my work is making a difference in people’s lives. I know my parents are proud of me because I follow the values they instilled in me. Recently, I decided to add a cardinal to my business logo to represent them because, with every family I help, I feel their presence. Their support and influence have helped me get here, and I am forever grateful.
Whatever your real estate goals are, I am confident I can help you achieve them. Whether buying or selling, downsizing or upgrading, I will work alongside you to make your dreams a reality. I know this area like the back of my hand and will be able to guide you through every step of the process. After eight years of working in this industry, I know what it takes to achieve a fair deal where everyone leaves satisfied and happy. Even after the transaction is over, I will continue to serve as your REALTOR® and friend for life.
Sincerely,
Kevin Walsh
